I have been keeping reptiles for the last 10 years. My collection has been everything from a variety of monitor lizards, small geckos, all sorts of ratsnakes to big boas and pythons. Another fascination of mine has been spiders. Over the years I have kept many spiders including baboon spiders, ornamental spiders and birdeating spiders. My main passion though is venomous snakes. I am fortunate to have a collection which includes Papuan taipans, 2 species of Lanceheads, 9 species of cobra, copperheads, eyelash vipers, Gaboon viper, Puff adder, rhino vipers and a few other bits and pieces.

Steve’s Animal Experience

At the age of 15 I started voluntary work at The Cotswold Wildlife Park where I was able to learn a lot from some very experienced keepers. At the age of 18 I was offered a full time keeping job where I was also able to work with lions, rhinos, tapirs, leopards, zebra, ostrich and many other wonderful creatures. Whilst at the Park, I was able to complete and pass The Advanced National Certificate in the Management of Zoo Animals course.
